Following the coming into force of The Companies (Registrar) (Fees and Penalties) Regulations, 2020 on 1 January 2021, a company which fails to file an annual validation by 31 August 2021 is liable to a civil penalty.
The civil penalty replaced the previous system of late filing fees.
The Guernsey Registry has issued a consultation seeking views from stakeholders on the content of the following draft regulations and guidance notes:
- The Charities etc. (Amendments, Exemptions, Governance and Specified Amount) (Guernsey and Alderney) Regulations, 2021
- The Charities etc. (Guernsey and Alderney) Ordinance, 2021 - Guidance for all charities and other NPOs

The Office of the Data Protection Authority (ODPA) would like to remind Registry users of the requirement to register and pay an annual fee during 2021.
If your organisation/business/charity has information about people ('personal data'), you need to be aware of changes that came into effect in 2021.
If a new registration was not completed during 1 Jan - 28 Feb 2021, a new registration with the ODPA must now be completed along with payment of the annual fee.
As this is the first year of this new registration regime the ODPA are accepting late registrations throughout this year.
In future years all registrations/renewals must be done during January-February only - this is a legal requirement.
